OK let me try to explain. Close period means a period whereby the directors or principal officers of the company are not allowed to deal in the company shares because they have obtain price-sensitive information regarding the shares of the company. Example, they know the company is going to take over some companies or being taken over, etc. Heck, even the period before a board meeting is also a close period. The period is 1 month before and after.
Of course, Bursa still allows the directors or principal officers of the company to buy or sell their shares provided they make the necessary announcements to Bursa. So if you see a company where the a lot of the Directors or principal officers are selling or buying shares during close period, you should do the same as well.
Do not confuse close period with off market transactions. Off market transactions is like what was described in the earlier threads
